Brown’s Island & Canal Walk Site Management for Richmond Riverfront Corporation
Site Overview
Located between the Haxall Canal and the James River, Brown’s Island is a beautiful outdoor venue offering scenic views of the Richmond city skyline and the James River. Richmond Riverfront Corporation (RRC) managed property and development along the riverfront in downtown Richmond. Echelon was contracted by RRC to manage the rental process of and relationships that go along with two event rental locations – Brown’s Island and the Canal Walk. Between the two locations, people enjoy over 30 unique public and private events during the event season, including XTERRA in June and the National Folk Festival in October.
Echelon’s Role
- Managed application and booking process
- Managed calendar of events, including timely distribution of calendar to necessary city and support agencies
- Acted as main point of contact to all event producers renting the island on all matters
- Insured complete compliance of producers to a very detailed application/regulation document about the conduct of an event at the locations
- Managed relationship with season-long stage provider, waste management team, and port-o-let provider
- Identified and managed security and police presence during event
